Holy See marks 75 years of diplomatic relations with Pakistan

Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Vatican Secretary for Relations with States, addressed a conference in Islamabad to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Pakistan.

During his visit, Gallagher emphasized that the Holy See’s international engagement is rooted in a spiritual mission to defend fundamental human rights, religious freedom, and interreligious dialogue. He described the Vatican’s approach as a diplomacy of ‘positive neutrality’ aimed at promoting the common good and integral human development rather than pursuing economic or political interests.

Holy See Ambassador to Pakistan, Archbishop Christphe El-KASSIS, also spoke at the event, noting the excellent relations between Vatican City and Pakistan. The conference was attended by various members of the diplomatic corps and included Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Yousaf as the chief guest.
