Holyvolt raises $45 million for AI-driven battery material discovery

Holyvolt, a battery materials discovery company, has secured $45 million in funding from investors including Zone II, CC. VC, and Fifth Wall. The company utilizes a ‘Discovery Engine’ that integrates proprietary AI models with automated laboratories to develop and test new battery materials.

The technology builds upon a testing platform from Wildcat Discovery Technologies, which merged with Holyvolt in 2026. This platform features a high-throughput lab capable of automating physical tests for thousands of materials in parallel. Holyvolt intends to use the new capital to expand its scientific team, laboratory capacity, and AI capabilities.

A primary goal for the company is the commercialization of nickel- and cobalt-free disordered rocksalt (DRX) cathode materials, which are designed to provide high energy density without relying on those specific metals. Holyvolt aims to begin commercializing these DRX materials in 2027.
