Holzwickede advances plans for new sports hall
The municipality of Holzwickede has moved into the next phase of planning for a new sports hall at the Josef-Reding-Schule. Following a commitment of federal funding, the project is transitioning from an initial sketch to a concrete plan.
Stefan Thiel, head of technical services, stated that the municipality is beginning detailed preparations, which include determining the specific usage of the hall, conducting site assessments, and obtaining necessary expert reports. While the formal funding process is ongoing, the municipality has submitted a more comprehensive application to secure the final approval.
The project is expected to receive approximately 1.73 million euros in federal subsidies, with total costs estimated at around 3.85 million euros. A definitive timeline for construction has not yet been established, but further coordination meetings with funding providers are expected later this year.
