Homare Sawa appointed ambassador for Fukushima United FC

Homare Sawa, the legendary former captain of the Nadeshiko Japan women's national team, has been appointed as the ‘Future Creation Ambassador’ for Fukushima United FC. Sawa, who led Japan to a FIFA Women's World Cup victory in 2011, aims to use her experience to support regional revitalization in Fukushima.

In her new role, Sawa will contribute to the club's new stadium concept and the development of the Fukushima Sports Science Park (SSP). Her responsibilities include supervising next-generation education programs and utilizing sports to foster human resource development and organizational growth.

Sawa noted a deep personal connection to the region, citing the J-Village training camps used by the national team. Her husband, Hiroaki Tsujigami, currently serves as the vice president of Fukushima United FC.
