Home café trend brings specialty coffee experiences to domestic kitchens

The 'home café' trend is transforming domestic kitchens into personalized specialty coffee stations, driven by a desire to recreate the cafe experience through ritual and presentation.

New technology is facilitating this shift by lowering the barrier to entry for complex brewing. The KitchenAid Espresso KF3, for example, offers an automated approach to espresso making. It features the IntelliGrind system, which automatically adjusts the grind based on the bean type, and the AutoMilk system, which manages milk texture and volume for consistent cappuccinos and lattes. The machine also includes specific settings for iced coffee to prevent bitterness during cooling.

Building a home café does not require immediate heavy investment. Enthusiasts can start with basic tools such as various brewing methods—including Italian, filter, French press, or capsule machines—and gradually add accessories like grinders and milk frothers to enhance the aesthetic and sensory experience.
