Home cleaning tips for removing limescale and stains
Cleaning experts suggest various methods for removing limescale and stubborn stains from household items like stainless steel cookware and faucets. Limescale, caused by calcium and magnesium in hard water, can create a dull or rainbow-colored film on surfaces over time.
For stainless steel, traditional detergents may not always suffice to remove accumulated grease and mineral layers. For faucets, a microfiber cloth soaked in vinegar can loosen deposits in approximately 15 minutes. However, experts like those from Martha Stewart warn that users must first verify if the specific material—such as brass or specialized coatings—can tolerate vinegar, as acidic substances may damage certain finishes.
To prevent buildup, cleaning specialist Kellsie Zapata recommends the habit of drying faucets with a microfiber cloth daily to prevent water droplets from leaving mineral traces.
