Home Cooling Tips: Position Fans Near Windows for Better Airflow
Placing a household fan about half a meter to one meter away from an open window and angling it outward helps expel warm indoor air while drawing cooler outside air in through a second opening, such as a window or door on the opposite side of the dwelling. This cross‑ventilation creates a pressure difference that improves airflow more effectively than keeping the fan directly on the windowsill.
The technique works best in the evening or at night when outdoor temperatures are lower than inside. While a fan does not lower air temperature like an air‑conditioner, proper placement can speed up ventilation and make indoor spaces noticeably more comfortable during hot weather.
