Home Depot faces accusations of facilitating ICE raids

Immigrant rights advocates and day laborers are raising concerns regarding the role of Home Depot locations in facilitating U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations. In Houston, the nonprofit FIEL Houston held a rally accusing the hardware chain of cooperating with federal agents following the detention of a man near a store. While Home Depot issued a statement denying any coordination with ICE or Customs and Border Protection, the company noted it does not prevent federal agents from accessing its parking lots and utilizes automated license plate readers.

In Los Angeles, day laborers report living in constant fear of ICE raids while seeking work at Home Depot locations. Many undocumented workers describe the stores as high-risk areas where they attempt to find temporary labor despite the threat of being chased or detained by federal agents. The increased enforcement has left many laborers in desperate financial situations, unable to secure legal employment due to a lack of work permits.
