Home maintenance tips for air quality and heating efficiency
To maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent mold during winter, experts recommend a technique known as ‘shock ventilation’. Instead of leaving windows slightly open for long periods—which can lead to condensation, moisture buildup, and the entry of pollutants—homeowners should fully open opposing windows to create a strong draft for three to five minutes.
For optimal results in urban areas with high pollution, ventilation should occur between 12:00 and 15:00 when solar radiation and air currents help reduce particle concentrations. This method replaces stale air without significantly cooling down walls or furniture.
Regarding heating efficiency, using air conditioning units in HEAT mode is a practical solution for transitional seasons. Setting the temperature to approximately 21 degrees Celsius is recommended. Users should avoid setting excessively high temperatures (such as 28 or 30 degrees) in an attempt to warm a room faster, as this can cause inverter units to work at higher power for longer, increasing electricity consumption.
