Bang Luan pomelo harvest reaches 10,000 tons

In Bang Luan commune, pomelo orchards are entering a significant harvest season. The area currently maintains nearly 800 hectares of pomelo trees, with 730 hectares actively producing. Average yields are estimated at 14 tons per hectare, resulting in a total output of approximately 10,000 tons.

Local farmers are seeing revenues between 180 and 200 million VND per hectare. Key varieties include Dien, Cat Que, and Green Skin, with the specific Bang Luan pomelo variety covering over 250 hectares and holding a certified geographical indication.

To improve quality and safety, producers are increasingly adopting VietGAP standards and advanced technical methods. These include balanced fertilization, supplemental pollination, fruit bagging to limit pests, and an increased use of organic fertilizers. The region has established three growing area codes covering 335 hectares and operates four cooperatives dedicated to the production and business of specialty pomelos.
