Home heating maintenance and heat pump integration
Effective home heating requires both regular maintenance of existing systems and strategic upgrades during renovations. For older homes, cleaning radiators annually using a mixture of water and dish soap can prevent dust buildup, which can otherwise reduce heating efficiency and exacerbate allergies or asthma.
When renovating older houses, heat pumps can be integrated into existing systems. They do not necessarily require a complete replacement of traditional radiators or the immediate removal of functional gas boilers. A hybrid system can be implemented where a heat pump handles most heating needs during milder weather, while a gas boiler provides support during extreme cold. Proper sizing of the heat pump based on the building's energy requirements and insulation levels is essential to optimize costs and performance.
