Home heating tips for colder weather
As temperatures drop, experts and residents are sharing methods to maintain warmth in homes while managing energy costs.
One effective technique is 'curtain-stacking,' which involves layering multiple blinds or curtains over windows. This method creates pockets of air between fabric layers, acting similarly to double-glazing to trap heat and provide an insulation barrier against the cold.
Other practical strategies include wearing multiple thin layers of clothing to trap body heat and consuming warm meals such as stews. For bedding, using thicker duvets with a tog rating of 10.5 or higher, or placing a blanket underneath bedsheets to block draughts, can also help maintain warmth during the night.
