A homemade toilet cleaner can be made by mixing seven to eight glasses of sourdough bread crumbs, two glasses of lemon juice, one tablespoon of vinegar, one tablespoon of 3 % hydrogen peroxide, and about fifteen drops of aromatic oil. The mixture is shaped into half‑sphere balls, left to dry for at least four hours (overnight is recommended), then placed in a bowl near the toilet to release scent and help eliminate microbes.

To keep a washing machine clean, experts advise leaving the door open for several hours after each wash to allow the interior to dry, regularly wiping the rubber gasket to remove water, detergent residue and mold, and running an empty high‑temperature cycle once a month. Adding a washing‑machine‑specific cleaner or a small amount of alcohol to the cycle can further remove deposits and odors.
