Home maintenance strategies for effective cleaning and dust reduction

Maintaining a clean home relies more on structured daily habits and environmental design than on intensive weekly cleaning sessions. Establishing routines such as making the bed, washing dishes immediately after meals, and returning items to their designated spots can prevent small messes from becoming overwhelming projects.

In bedrooms, textiles like rugs, throws, and upholstered furniture act as significant dust collectors. Experts note that household dust—a mixture of skin cells, textile fibers, pollen, and pet dander—is often concentrated in bedrooms due to soft furnishings. Removing bedroom rugs, particularly those under the bed, can reduce dust accumulation. To manage buildup, it is recommended to wash bed linen at least once a week and vacuum or brush the mattress approximately once a month.
