Home maintenance tips for condensation and limescale

Common household issues such as window condensation and limescale buildup in showerheads can often be managed with simple domestic techniques.

Condensation on windows in the morning is typically caused by high humidity and low glass temperatures. To mitigate this, it is recommended to practice short, intense ventilation rather than leaving windows slightly open for long periods. Maintaining indoor humidity between 40-60 percent, using kitchen hoods while cooking, and ensuring proper bathroom ventilation can help reduce moisture accumulation from breathing, cooking, and bathing.

For limescale buildup in showerheads caused by hard water, using white vinegar is an effective solution. One method involves pouring half a glass of vinegar into a detachable showerhead and letting it sit for several hours. For fixed models, a bag containing a 1:1 mixture of water and vinegar can be secured around the showerhead with a rubber band and left overnight. Regular wiping of the showerhead with a soft cloth after use can help prevent future mineral crystallization.
