Home maintenance guides highlight two common plumbing concerns: water leak detection and sink drainage.

Zigbee water leak sensors, such as the SONOFF SNZB-05P and Aqara models, can provide mobile alerts via Home Assistant to prevent damage from burst hoses or leaking water heaters. These sensors work by detecting water contact between two points, sending a signal through a Zigbee network without requiring Wi-Fi. Proper placement is critical, as the sensor only detects water in its immediate vicinity.

Regarding drainage, slow-moving sink water is often caused by debris accumulation in the siphon, the curved pipe located beneath the sink. This component is designed to hold water to block sewer gases, but its shape also traps grease, food particles, and hair. Identifying whether a clog is localized in the siphon or deeper in the plumbing is an essential first step in residential maintenance.
