Home organization and dust management tips
Effective home maintenance can be achieved through small, consistent tasks and an understanding of how dust accumulates. The ‘10/10 rule’ suggests completing ten small tasks in ten minutes to maintain order. Recommended areas for quick organization include bedside tables, entryways, bathroom sinks, work bags, junk drawers, and refrigerator doors.
Regarding dust, rapid accumulation on cleaned surfaces is often caused by particles remaining in the air or being released from fabrics. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, activities such as walking, sweeping, and dusting can re-suspend particles in the air. Soft surfaces like sofas, rugs, curtains, and cushions act as reservoirs for fibers and skin cells, which are released during movement. Additionally, dirty air conditioner filters and air currents can contribute to the continuous redistribution of dust throughout a home.
