Home renovation planning and labor costs in Romania
Renovating a bathroom or home requires careful planning regarding technical aspects, such as plumbing, waterproofing, and ventilation, as well as aesthetic choices. A successful renovation involves deciding between a simple visual update or a complete reconfiguration of the space, which significantly impacts both budget and duration.
In Romania, labor costs for renovation vary based on the type of work. Preparation tasks like removing flooring cost between 15 and 25 lei/sqm, while removing tiles ranges from 25 to 35 lei/sqm. Debris removal is charged separately per transport, typically between 300 and 600 lei. Finishing works include applying primer (5–8 lei/sqm), plastering (25–35 lei/sqm), and painting (20–30 lei/sqm per coat). Specialized installations, such as gypsum board structures, tiling, and parquet installation, also carry specific per-square-meter rates.
