Home robbery in Chiclayo, Peru captured on security cameras

On the night of 18 July 2026, around 9:30 p.m., two men forced entry into a residence at Calle Panamá No. 2189 in the district of José Leonardo Ortiz, Chiclayo, Lambayeque, Peru. They searched the second and third floors, stealing more than S/ 25,000 in cash, gold jewelry and a laptop.

A police patrol from the local PNP passed in front of the house while the crime was underway, but the officers did not intervene or notice the robbery. The victims recorded the incident with the home’s security cameras and plan to hand the footage to the National Police to help identify the suspects. The case adds to a series of recent thefts in José Leonardo Ortiz, prompting residents to demand a stronger police presence and preventive measures against rising crime.
