Home security requires hybrid physical and digital protection
Securing modern homes requires a dual approach that combines reliable wired systems with flexible smart solutions. Effective home security involves mapping potential blind spots, such as windows, secondary entrances, and corridors, to strategically place wide-angle cameras, PIR sensors, and magnetic contacts.
As the number of connected Internet of Things (IoT) devices increases, domestic networks have become more vulnerable to cyberattacks. Experts from Panda Security note that in 2025, there have been an average of 820,000 attempted malicious attacks against IoT devices. Because smartphones, smart TVs, and baby monitors often share the same connection, a poorly configured router can grant attackers immediate access to sensitive information.
To mitigate these risks, experts recommend moving beyond simple Wi-Fi passwords. Essential steps include changing default administrative credentials, updating network names, and implementing robust encryption to harden the digital perimeter of the home.
