Home Wi-Fi stability is affected by microwave interference and device congestion

Home Wi-Fi instability and slow speeds are often caused by electronic interference rather than service provider failures. Devices such as microwave ovens operate on the 2.4 GHz frequency, which is the same band used by most domestic networks, leading to digital congestion and signal degradation.

Other common sources of interference include Bluetooth devices like headphones, smartwatches, and keyboards, as well as the concentration of multiple wireless devices such as Smart TVs and security cameras in a single area. To mitigate these issues, it is recommended to keep microwaves away from routers and to plan the distribution of access points to avoid signal competition.

To improve coverage and stability, mesh router systems are available as a solution. Options include the TP-Link Deco X10, which uses AI management to handle up to 120 devices, and the Intelbras Twibi Force AX, a Wi-Fi 6 compatible mesh alternative designed for robust domestic networks.
