Homeland Security Secretary blames California Democrats for border wall delays
U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin has attributed delays in the construction of the border wall to opposition from California Democrats and various left-wing interest groups. The wall, a central promise of Donald Trump’s first term, is not expected to be completed until late 2027 at the earliest.
According to reports, California officials and leaders such as Governor Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta were involved in legal efforts to obstruct construction. In Congress, figures including Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer were noted for their roles in refusing to fund the project, which eventually led to the use of emergency funds by the Trump administration. While the federal government under President Joe Biden eventually settled legal disputes, significant construction equipment was reportedly left unused during the transition.
