Homemade garlic‑vinegar and peroxide‑detergent mixes promoted for cleaning

Cleaning experts recommend a simple mixture of garlic skins and white vinegar. The blend disinfects surfaces, neutralises odors, repels insects such as mosquitoes, ants and cockroaches, and can protect plants from fungi. To prepare, place 3‑4 clean garlic skins in a glass jar, add a cup of white vinegar, seal and let sit for 24 hours before straining and transferring the solution to a spray bottle.

A separate popular DIY solution combines household hydrogen peroxide with liquid detergent. The oxidising action of peroxide together with the grease‑cutting properties of detergent helps remove tough food stains and clean compatible surfaces. Users are advised to mix equal parts, apply directly to the stain, test on an inconspicuous area first, and avoid prolonged storage because peroxide loses effectiveness when exposed to light and air.
