Homestay and villa investments grow in Bantul and Gunungkidul

Tourism accommodation investments are seeing significant growth in the Indonesian regions of Bantul and Gunungkidul.

In Bantul, the Department of Investment and Integrated One-Stop Services (DPMPTSP) reported 43 homestay business permits for the 2025–2026 period, representing a total investment value of approximately Rp7.32 billion. These businesses are categorized as micro-enterprises, with most operating as individual proprietorships. The growth has absorbed 62 local workers, with the highest concentration of businesses located in the Sewon and Kasihan districts.

Similarly, Gunungkidul has experienced a steady rise in accommodation permits. Since 2021, the number of homestay permits has increased from six to a cumulative total of 62 as of October 2026. The region has also seen significant interest in villa construction, with 83 permits processed between 2021 and October 2026. Officials attribute this investment trend to the increasing number of tourists visiting the area.
