Homs water supply bolstered by new Zeta Dam pipeline
A new water pipeline project has been inaugurated to bolster the water supply in Homs, Syria. The project involves a 2-kilometer pipeline with a 600-millimeter diameter, designed to transport approximately 15,000 cubic meters of water per day from the Zeta Dam to the Ain al-Tanour station.
Implemented through a collaboration between the Homs General Company for Drinking Water and Sanitation, the Syrian Development Organization, and the Homs Governorate, the project aims to compensate for shortages caused by drought and a growing population, including returning displaced residents. This initiative is part of a broader strategic effort to enhance water security in the region.
Following the completion of this phase, the total daily water capacity serving Homs is expected to reach approximately 140,000 cubic meters. Officials emphasized the importance of water conservation and the prevention of waste to ensure stable distribution to the city and its surrounding rural areas.
