Honda admits 2026 MotoGP season fell short of expectations

Alberto Puig, team boss of Honda Racing Corporation, said the Japanese manufacturer entered the 2026 MotoGP season with high hopes after a strong 2025, including a win at the French Grand Prix. After the first 11 rounds, Honda has accumulated 109 points, well below the 141 points recorded at the same stage last year, and the only podium so far came in Barcelona.

Puig acknowledged progress on the RC213V bike but noted that technical gains have not yet translated into results. He stressed that the focus will remain on extracting the maximum from the current package while development work shifts toward the 2027 machine, making a major leap unlikely in the second half of the season.
