Honda calls Aleix Espargaró for MotoGP race in Indonesia

Honda HRC has called upon test rider Aleix Espargaró to compete in the upcoming MotoGP race in Indonesia. This decision follows a series of rider availability issues for the manufacturer.

Joan Mir has been sidelined due to health problems, and Takaaki Nakagami suffered a broken left clavicle during a session in Motegi, requiring surgery. While Honda initially considered Somkiat Chantra from their WorldSBK program to fill the gap, Chantra is scheduled to compete in Estoril during the same weekend.

Espargaró is returning to Grand Prix action after a long recovery from a severe spinal injury sustained during a test in Sepang in April. Although he recently returned to the prototype at Mugello, his performance levels were noted to be below his pre-accident standards. He has been notified to prepare for travel to Lombok.
