Honda Civic Type R scheduled for major update in September 2026

Honda has announced a major minor change for its high-performance Civic Type R, which is scheduled for release in Japan in September 2026. This update marks the first significant overhaul since the sixth-generation model debuted in 2022.

Key improvements include a refreshed exterior design featuring a wider front bumper to enhance cooling and aerodynamic performance. The vehicle will also adopt a next-generation infotainment system with ‘Google built-in’ capabilities. Additionally, the new model will comply with the updated UN-R51-03 noise regulations introduced in July 2026. The update follows previous iterations such as the ‘Racing Black Package’ released in early 2025.
