Honda dealer issues maintenance warnings for automatic motorcycle V-belts

PT Wahana Makmur Sejati (WMS), the Honda motorcycle main dealer for the Jakarta-Tangerang area, has issued guidance for automatic motorcycle users regarding the maintenance of the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) system, specifically the V-belt or drive belt.

Because the V-belt is housed inside the CVT casing, its condition cannot be fully assessed from the outside. WMS highlights three primary indicators of potential failure: the appearance of squeaking sounds from the CVT area, unusual vibrations during initial acceleration, and changes in the vehicle's pulling sensation. While these symptoms often point to the V-belt, they can also be caused by other transmission components, necessitating a professional inspection.

Mechanics recommend checking the V-belt for cracks or wear by opening the CVT cover. Maintenance should follow the manufacturer's service schedule, which may include inspections every 8,000 kilometers depending on the model. If replacement is necessary, the use of original Honda Genuine parts is advised to ensure performance and reliability.
