Honda HR-V maintains competitive edge in compact SUV segment

The Honda HR-V continues to position itself as a competitive option in the compact SUV segment, emphasizing safety and regional manufacturing. In Mexico, the HR-V is produced at the Honda plant in Guanajuato. The 2026 model features a 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine producing 155 horsepower, paired with a CVT transmission. A key selling point is the inclusion of the Honda Sensing safety suite and eight airbags across all trim levels, including the Uniq, Sport, and Touring versions.

In comparative testing between the Honda HR-V and the Kia Seltos, the vehicles show different strengths. While the HR-V offers slightly quicker acceleration, reaching 0-60 mph in 10.2 seconds compared to the Seltos' 10.6 seconds, the Kia Seltos was noted for superior rear-seat comfort and the inclusion of rear air vents. The HR-V's front seats were described as overly firm with a lack of lumbar adjustment, which may impact long-distance driving comfort.
