Honda invests 12 billion baht to expand Thai manufacturing plant

Honda Thailand has announced a 12 billion baht (approximately 9.6 trillion VND) investment to upgrade and expand its Prachinburi manufacturing plant. The expansion aims to increase production capacity to 150,000 vehicles per year, with 35,000 units designated for export to over 70 countries. A primary focus of this investment is the production of the Honda Avancier, a large D-SUV featuring Next-Generation Hybrid (e:HEV) technology, scheduled to begin assembly in late 2026. The facility is also being transitioned into a Smart Factory utilizing AI and robotics.

This expansion is expected to impact the Vietnamese market, as Honda currently imports strategic models like the HR-V and CR-V from Thailand to benefit from 0% ASEAN import taxes. The introduction of the Avancier could fill a product gap in the D and E SUV segments in Vietnam.

Separately, Honda Vietnam has updated its motorcycle pricing. While many models have seen stable prices, recent adjustments have included minor increases of approximately 100,000 to 200,000 VND for various commuter and scooter models.
