Honda launches HRC Heritage Racing Program for historic car restoration
Honda Racing Corporation USA (HRC US) has announced the launch of its HRC Heritage Racing Program. The initiative focuses on the sale, restoration, and trackside support of historic Honda and Acura racing vehicles that have achieved championship success at venues such as Le Mans, Sebring, Daytona, and Laguna Seca.
The first vehicle offered through the program is the V8-powered #26 XM Satellite Radio AGR Acura ARX-01a. This model was the first purpose-built Acura endurance racer and the first car and engine developed by HRC in the United States. It won the LMP2 class at the 2007 Sebring 12 Hours, driven by Dario Franchitti, Bryan Herta, and Tony Kanaan.
According to David Salters, president of HRC US, the company is uniquely positioned to restore these machines to their original form due to its role as the original builder and custodian of the intellectual property and technical knowledge.
