Honda Malaysia begins production of 2026 City Hatchback in Melaka
Honda Malaysia has officially commenced production of the 2026 City Hatchback facelift at its manufacturing plant in Melaka. The production rollout was attended by the Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia, Shikata Noriyuki, who commended the company for integrating Japanese technology and manufacturing expertise with Malaysian talent and industrial capabilities.
The production of the new model is supported by a local ecosystem involving approximately 500 suppliers. Honda Malaysia stated that its close partnerships with these domestic suppliers help strengthen the country's automotive manufacturing capabilities. The company's wider manufacturing network currently involves nearly 20,000 associates across its operations, dealership network, and supplier partners.
The City Hatchback, which was first introduced locally in 2021, has recorded cumulative sales of over 51,000 units in Malaysia to date. This latest facelift follows the recent introduction of the refreshed City sedan.
