Honda N‑BOX Leads Japan New‑Car Sales in First Half of 2026
Japan’s new‑car market for January–June 2026 was topped by Honda’s lightweight N‑BOX, marking its fifth consecutive half‑year lead and the only model to exceed 100,000 registrations with 1,024,190 units, despite a 1.0% year‑on‑year drop. Suzuki’s Spacia placed second with 832,290 units, down 1.3%, and Toyota’s compact Yaris was third with 722,360 units, falling 16.9%. The June‑month data showed a 20.9% surge in N‑BOX registrations compared with the same month in 2025. The figures were released on 6 July by the Japan Automobile Dealers Association and the National Light Vehicle Association.
