Honda partners with India's Tata Technologies on new vehicle platform
Honda Motor Co. has engaged Tata Technologies, an Indian engineering services firm, to develop a new white‑paper vehicle platform that can accommodate internal‑combustion, hybrid and fully electric powertrains. This marks the first time Honda is outsourcing core platform development, aiming to lower costs and accelerate model rollout amid rising competition from Chinese manufacturers.
In parallel, Honda Motor Europe announced a revised business plan for the European market that prioritises profitability over sales volume. The company intends to raise annual European sales from roughly 71,000 units in 2025 to about 100,000 units within the next two to three years, while avoiding price‑war discounting. The plan highlights a broader model range that meets stricter EU emissions rules, including the fully electric Super N vehicle launched in the United Kingdom. Both moves reflect Honda’s broader restructuring to improve competitiveness and accelerate electrification.
