Honda and Aston Martin address engine issues ahead of Monza

Aston Martin and Honda are addressing technical challenges ahead of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. While Honda’s new power unit specification introduced at Zandvoort delivered expected performance gains, it caused unexpected drivability issues due to changes in combustion characteristics. Honda engineer Shintaro Orihara confirmed that new calibrations and countermeasures are being implemented to improve power delivery and consistency.

Fernando Alonso has expressed that his future in Formula 1 remains undecided, noting that upcoming regulations will be a decisive factor. While the driver has seen improved chassis performance and a ninth-place finish in the Netherlands, he remains concerned about the power deficit compared to rivals. Alonso has also indicated that he will not continue simply to compete at the lower end of the grid.
