Honda Racing launches HRC Formula R synthetic engine oil
Honda Racing Corporation (HRC US) has announced the commercial launch of ‘HRC Formula R’, its first 100% synthetic engine oil developed for general consumers in partnership with Phillips 66.
Designed to meet the demands of modern Honda and Acura engines, including direct-injection turbo and hybrid systems, the oil aims to provide high-level protection against sludge, thermal decomposition, and wear on components like turbochargers and timing chains. The product line includes six viscosity grades ranging from 0W-16 for daily driving to 0W-40, which shares the same formula used in IMSA Civic Type R TCR racing cars.
The oil meets or exceeds the latest API SP and ILSAC GF-7/GF-7A standards, specifically targeting the prevention of Low-Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI) and providing enhanced durability for downsizing turbo engines.
