Honda recalls thousands of vehicles again due to faulty tire repair kits
Honda has issued a new recall in the United States for 4,804 vehicles that had previously been part of a massive recall involving over one million units. The affected models include 2023–2026 Honda Accord Hybrids, 2023–2026 CR-V Hybrids, and 2025–2026 CR-V Fuel Cell EVs.
The issue concerns a tire sealant repair kit provided by Tek Corporation. If the kit is improperly connected to a tire valve, pressure can build up inside the sealant bottle, potentially causing the cap to eject violently and spray the product, posing a risk of injury to bystanders or users.
According to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this secondary recall was triggered by a logistical error at Tek Corporation. The supplier failed to implement adequate disposal controls, resulting in faulty pre-countermeasure parts being mixed with new, corrected parts in their warehouse. Consequently, some vehicles that were supposedly repaired during the initial recall were inadvertently re-equipped with the defective kits.
