Honda rolls out Google Gemini AI assistant in US and Japanese market models
Honda announced that its vehicles equipped with Google built‑in will receive the Google Gemini AI assistant. The feature will be added to select versions of the Civic, Accord, Prelude, CR‑V, Passport and Pilot families. Drivers can use natural‑language voice commands to search for restaurants, create routes, get news summaries and plan trips, with the system asking follow‑up questions when needed. Access requires signing in with a Google account on the car’s infotainment system; models that only support Android Auto or phone mirroring will not receive Gemini. Physical buttons for climate and volume will remain unchanged. The rollout begins with 2023 model‑year Accord Touring Hybrid and expands to 2025 and later Civic hybrids, with additional models slated for 2026 and beyond.
