Aston Martin to receive new Honda power unit at Dutch Grand Prix

Honda has confirmed that its current power unit for Aston Martin, rated the weakest in the 2026 field, will receive an ADUO‑approved upgrade after the summer break. Trackside General Manager Shintaro Orihara said, “We have two races left before we introduce the new engine,” referring to the Belgian and Hungarian Grand Prix. The upgraded unit is slated to debut at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort.

The team is also preparing a major chassis and aerodynamic package for the Hungary race, aiming to reduce weight and improve reliability after early‑season vibration and energy‑management problems. Driver Fernando Alonso stressed the need to demonstrate that the team has learned from the season’s difficulties, while chief trackside officer Mike Krack cautioned that expectations must be managed and spare parts availability remains a concern.

Both Honda and Aston Martin view the forthcoming upgrades as crucial to halt a disastrous start and to become competitive again in the second half of the season.
