Honda unveils 2027 Civic Type R for North American market

Honda has unveiled the 2027 Civic Type R, marking the 30th anniversary of the model line. The updated version features a redesigned front bumper with a larger air intake to improve engine cooling and reduce turbulence, alongside an extended lower spoiler for increased downforce.

Mechanical updates include a recalibrated chassis and adaptive dampers, specifically optimized in the +R mode to reduce body bounce and better maintain tire contact with the road. The vehicle retains its 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, producing 320 hp (315 hp in some specifications) and 420 Nm of torque, paired exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. Additional refinements include a faster-reacting Rev Match system and a more direct brake pedal feel.

While the updated model is set to launch in the North American market this October, it will not be available in Europe. Due to evolving regulations, Honda is ending Civic Type R sales in Europe by 2026, celebrating the model's departure with a limited 'Ultimate Edition' consisting of only 40 units for the entire continent.
