Honda unveils Civic Type‑R HRC teaser and plans hybrid‑flex City and WR‑V for Brazil
Honda released new teaser images of the Civic Type‑R HRC, a visually upgraded version being developed by Honda Racing Corporation in Japan. The concept adds extensive aerodynamic bodywork, a new front splitter, rear diffuser and aero‑elements, while retaining the existing 2.0‑litre turbocharged engine that produces 330 hp. Development is in the testing phase at Suzuka and the model is slated for production launch within the next few months.
Separately, Honda is working on a lightweight hybrid‑flex (MHEV) system for its City and WR‑V models that will be produced and sold exclusively in Brazil. The system pairs a 1.5‑litre naturally aspirated engine with a small electric motor‑generator that provides additional torque at low speeds, improving fuel efficiency without adding the cost of a full‑hybrid battery pack. The hybrid‑flex option is intended to keep prices competitive and could appear on the models as early as 2027.
