Honda Civic Type R 2027 receives performance and interior upgrades

Honda has unveiled the 2027 Civic Type R, a mid-cycle refresh for the sixth-generation (FL5) performance hatchback. While the 2.0-liter turbocharged K20C engine maintains its 315 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque output, the update focuses on driving dynamics, cooling, and interior refinements.

Mechanical and aerodynamic improvements include a redesigned front fascia with a larger grille opening and a deeper front splitter to increase downforce and engine cooling. The suspension damping in +R mode has been optimized to improve road-following stability and reduce impact harshness. Additionally, the brake pedal now features a yoke spring for more direct feedback, and the automatic rev-match system has been tuned for faster response.

Interior upgrades feature the introduction of heated front seats for the first time in this model, along with Ultrasuede materials on the dashboard and doors to reduce windshield glare. The cabin also gains Google built-in technology, including Google Maps and Gemini AI integration. The 2027 model is expected to arrive at U.S. dealerships with a starting price of approximately $48,695 to $49,990.
