Dominican Republic heat wave brings scattered showers and Sahara dust

The Dominican Republic’s weather service INDOMET warned that a hot spell will dominate the country, with daytime temperatures ranging from 31 °C to 33 °C and high humidity raising heat‑stress levels. The forecast calls for mostly clear skies, occasional scattered showers in coastal areas such as Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Barahona, Monte Plata and La Vega, and a noticeable greyish haze from light Saharan dust particles that may affect air quality.

Residents are advised to stay well hydrated, wear light clothing and limit exposure to direct sunlight between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., while keeping an eye on official bulletins for any changes.

The outlook applies nationwide, with the capital district expecting brief morning showers that will give way to dry, hot conditions for the rest of the day.
