Honduran and Chilean seafood sectors expand Asian market reach

Honduran aquaculture companies, including ACOMAR, COEXMAR, and APEMASUR, have launched the ‘Honduran Shrimp Export Program to China 2026’. Supported by China National Township Enterprises Co., Ltd., the initiative aims to stabilize supply and increase presence in the Asian market. The project targets the shipment of over 100 containers by the end of 2026, with an expected revenue injection exceeding 350 million lempiras.

In a separate development, Chilean seafood producers from the Los Lagos region are expanding into North Asian markets. Organized by ProChile, a delegation of over 30 companies, including Aqua Chile and Sudmaris, participated in a business meeting in Seoul. The mission targeted buyers in South Korea, Japan, and Taipei to promote products such as mussels, salmon, and sea urchins, leveraging Chile’s position as a significant seafood supplier to the region.
