Honduran authorities coordinate response to new penal reforms

Government authorities and justice institution representatives in Honduras have met to coordinate actions following the implementation of new penal reforms. These legislative changes, officially published in the Diario Oficial La Gaceta, provide new legal tools intended to combat criminal structures and organized crime.

National Police Director Rigoberto Oseguera Mass emphasized the necessity of regaining territorial control and strengthening state presence within communities. Security Minister Gerson Velásquez stated that the new provisions represent a milestone in criminal prosecution, warning that authorities intend to target those associated with terrorist structures.

Congress President Tomás Zambrano described the development as a historic step, asserting that the legislature will continue to promote measures to support justice institutions and ensure public peace.
