Honduran authorities investigate real estate and pyramid scheme fraud

Authorities in Honduras are investigating multiple fraudulent schemes involving significant financial losses. In San Pedro Sula, Joseline Denicia Padilla Alcerro was arrested for her alleged involvement in a real estate fraud network. She is accused of using falsified documents and irregular registrations with the Instituto de la Propiedad to sell land and properties that did not belong to her or were not for sale.

Separately, in Tegucigalpa, Josué Portillo, the former manager of HLV, has addressed allegations regarding a suspected pyramid scheme that may have moved over 1,000 million lempiras. Portillo denied ownership of the organization or control over the funds, claiming he is also a victim of the criminal group. Investigations are ongoing to determine the destination of the funds and identify those responsible for the financial losses.
