Honduran deputies visit Dominican Republic to study cybersecurity
A delegation of Honduran deputies visited the National Cybersecurity Center (CNCS) in the Dominican Republic to study its governance, structure, and operational models. The mission aims to gather expertise to strengthen digital security frameworks in Honduras.
The Honduran delegation included Marcos Paz, president of the Commission on Security and Citizen Prevention, Kilvett Bertrand, head of the Commission on Defense and Sovereignty, and José Rolando Sabillón. The group examined how the CNCS, an agency under the National Intelligence Directorate (DNI), supports public institutions in building secure digital environments through awareness, prevention, and governance.
In addition to cybersecurity, the lawmakers discussed citizen security advancements, specifically regarding the prevention of synthetic drug production and consumption. Deputy Bertrand noted that Honduras is working toward new legislation to address these threats and mentioned recent penal reforms intended to designate criminal groups as terrorists.
