Honduran film “Viento en contra” premieres in cinemas

The Honduran film “Viento en contra” premiered in national cinemas on September 3, 2026. Produced by New Walk Productions, the film recreates the 1969 armed conflict between Honduras and El Salvador, historically known as the “100 Hours War.”

With a budget exceeding $500,000, the production involved six years of development and 45 days of filming. Directed by Douglas Martin and written by Ángel Matute Madrid, the 98-minute drama explores the conflict through the perspectives of military personnel, pilots, and civilians. The script aims to highlight the human consequences of the war for communities in both nations rather than declaring a victor.

Prior to the commercial release, special screenings were held in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula. The production features local talent and locations, marking a significant investment in the Honduran film industry.
