Honduran Marine dies after motorcycle robbery attempt in Tegucigalpa
Waldina Mejía Valle Arzú, a 23-year-old Marine infantry member of the Honduran Armed Forces, died following a violent robbery attempt in Tegucigalpa.
The attack occurred on the night of August 31 in the Nueva Aldea sector, near Los Laureles. According to preliminary reports, unidentified individuals intercepted Mejía Valle in an attempt to steal her motorcycle. During the assault, she was shot twice, sustaining serious wounds to her head and abdomen.
Mejía Valle was rushed to Hospital Escuela, where she received emergency medical treatment. Despite medical efforts, she passed away on Tuesday, September 1. The Honduran Armed Forces confirmed her death and issued a statement expressing deep sorrow and solidarity with her family.
Authorities are currently conducting investigations to determine the exact circumstances of the attack and to identify those responsible. No arrests have been reported as of the latest update.
